Requirements to Vote in Georgia:
1. United States Citizen
2. Georgia Resident, lives in the county/voting precinct where you will vote
3. You can register at age 17.5 but have to be 18 by election day to vote.
4. Convicted felons have to have served their sentence and be clear of all paperwork such as (parole, probation and all fines paid.
5. If you have been declared mentally incompetent by a judge, you can not register to vote in Georgia.

Georgia law (O.C.G.A. 21-2-417) requires Georgia residents to show ID if voting in person. Identification is not required when voting absentee ballot by mail.

 

Forms of acceptable ID for voting in Georgia:
1. Georgia drivers license, even if expired
2. Any federal/stat government picture ID
3. Employee ID from any branch department agency or entity of the United States government
4. Valid United States passport
5. Valid student ID from a public Georgia university and/or college.(Georgia State, Kennesaw State) ID's from Morehouse and Emory are not accepted.

The address listed on your ID or drivers license does not have to match the address where you are registered to vote. It is good if they do match to avoid difficulties in voting.

 

Obtaining Identification:
Crossroads Community Ministries, 420 Courtland St. N.E., Atlanta GA 30308, phone number: 404-873-7654. They assist with getting ID's and/or birth certificates.
They do orientation/check in between the hours 9:30am-12:30pm. Once you have been orientated, you will see someone in order to get your ID and/or birth certificate.

Voteriders also assist in getting ID's, birth certificates and name change documentation for any eligible voter that run into problems obtaining their identification. Their toll free phone number is 1-844-338-8743. You can also contact them through

Reminder: October 5, 2020 is the last day that you can register in Georgia to vote in the November 3, 2020 general election.

Online-October 4, 2020
By Mail-October 5, 2020

1.  Click on Services A-Z

2.  Click on Register to Vote

3.  Look to right side then click on vote by absentee ballot

4.  Click submit online

5.  Click on #2 (visit the Secretary of State's online portal for absentee ballot request and go from there
